What is Artsmark?

Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools and education settings, awarded by Arts Council England, recognising their commitment to high quality arts and cultural education. 20Twenty Productions is proud to be supporting schools and education settings on their Artsmark journey, inspiring children and young people to create, experience, and participate in great arts and culture.

What can 20Twenty Productions offer?

We offer educational organisations that are working towards or who currently hold an Artsmark Award the following opportunities:

Key stages one and two

Discover Days.  Our team work with up to 60 children over a full school day.  The day consists of activity linked to 4 different art forms (to date these have included:  musical theatre, dance, music, visual arts and creative writing).  At the end of the day the children perform a showcase to other students and their parents and all receive a Discover Arts Award certificate.

Key stage two only

Theatre Makers.  Theatre makers is delivered over six to ten weeks with at least fourteen hours of delivery.  We work with a curriculum topic and to date we have done linked to; the Celts –Saxons, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Magic Finger, Bear Grylls and young criminals during the 1870’s.  These projects have all concluded with a performance that is filmed and edited by 20Twenty Productions. The children and their parents are then invited to the film premiere at a local cinema complex.  All children receive a Discover Arts Award or Explore Arts Award depending on the length of the project.

KS3 & KS4

Music composition and songwriting.  Working with one class or a full year group and offering a Bronze Arts Award.  The project enables the young people to work with industry professional musicians.  They produce their own songs and are presented with opportunities to perform and develop their songs further for professional recording. This requires a minimum of thirty hours in school (ten hours with external artists) and a further commitment from the young people to attend sessions outside of school.

In summary

Our offer to schools is built on ‘collaboration’ with both the school itself and with the professional artists that we work with. Our offers have been developed through experience of delivery, working with and listening to the children and young people whilst ensuring that we work as a team with school staff. We work with many professional, talented, experienced industry artists across a breadth of art forms, all of whom we ensure are able to deliver the projects in an exciting, inspiring and engaging way.

We aim to build Arts Award into all of our projects, offering the children and young people a progressive route through their arts and cultural journey. This in turn excites and challenges 20Twenty Productions to provide experiences which are both positive and inclusive. We develop activities that work in parallel to curriculum topics such as reading, history, theatre, maths and even Bear Grylls!  We believe that all curriculum can and should be delivered with an element of creativity. Nothing is ‘impossible’.

So, these are our tried and tested projects, however we are always excited to discuss with any school how we car create new and exciting projects together. So, please contact Katherine to find out how 20Twenty Productions can support your Artsmark journey.
