On the 5th of October 2018 2020 held a social action conference which I had a lead on to organise. I decided to call it M.A.D Conference which stands for Make A Difference. After lots of preparing and planning the day arrived.
The conference was a very successful day. The day flowed really well and hopefully had a great impact on all the attendees.
The day started of with the set up, it was a very stressful hour. However it looked fantastic once completed. The tables looked very professional and presented immaculately. The young people were provided with a notepad, pens and wristbands All the goodies consisted of the M.A.D logo. So they all loved those few surprises.
We were very grateful to all the speakers, as they came from miles away and delivered inspiring and fun sessions which inspired the young people to make a change to themselves and the community. We had Jess Davis. Shannon Barrow, Stephen Adegbite, Charlotte Cowell-Walker and Marya Ali representing a range of backgrounds and interesting presentations.
We were pleased to have the conference at the Oliver Cromwell Hotel March. They provided us with food and drink throughout the day, which were lovely and tasty. But also the hotel gave the conference a professional environment.
We had activities throughout the day such as spaghetti tower build and some games. They were all really awesome and kept everyone engaged. We even had two young people from Battersea Beatbox Academy come in turned what made the ambassadors MAD about their environment into some spoken poetry and rap. They were Conrad and N8te and they are both amazing people, also truly inspirational.
We had young people helping with the day from Neal Wade, who are part of the community ambassadors program and they helped set up and organise the whole day. They did an amazing job. Also some of the other apprentices helped with filming and photography with help from the directors of 20Twenty, who also did some photography and help deliver the event.
