Young Author

The Young Author project is part of our Wisbech Reads offer. It is for Year 4 pupils in Wisbech and surrounding area schools. This year, the Wisbech Reads theme is refugees/climate change. In this project, the children will write and illustrate a short story on the theme.  

What will your class do?

Your class will:

  • Learn about refugees and climate change
  • Learn about character development and storyboarding
  • Participate in class discussion
  • Work with professional artists

What will your class create?

Your class will:

  • Working in pairs pupils will create a short story
  • Create backgrounds for their illustrations using coloured paper
  • Use Procreate on iPads to create illustrations and add their story text

How will they benefit by taking part?

  • Developing knowledge of the processes of writing and illustrating a story
  • Developing skills and confidence in using Procreate on an iPad
  • Developing teamwork and communication skills
  • Developing confidence, self-esteem and self-belief
  • Developing essential skills – active learning, creativity, originality & initiative, reasoning, problem solving & ideation, emotional intelligence, analytical thinking & innovation
