Family LEGO League – Begins 7th May

The Family LEGO League is a fun and exciting opportunity for parents/guardians and children in the March area to take part in a robotics league. Managed by 20Twenty Productions and delivered in March Library’s new Everyspace, teams will tackle a wide range of challenges designed by First LEGO League.

Families who participate together in this league will discover the power of curiosity, creativity, and problem solving, building the foundation for life-long confidence in STEM learning. No prior knowledge or experience of this or any related topic is needed.

Introducing First LEGO League

Get involved

  • Join one of our monthly introductory sessions to understand how to build and code robots
  • These introductory sessions are the first Wednesday of every month
  • There is no charge for participation as this program is funded by National Lottery
  • The introductory session is 90 minutes long and begins as 5:30pm
  • All equipment is provided including the LEGO Spike Prime robotics sets

LEGO Spike Prime

LEGO Spike Prime is LEGO’s educational robotics platform used by schools to help support STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) learning. It is huge fun and provides a wide range of educational benefits for children and adults alike. The video below provides an introduction to the set.

Get competitive

  • Every Wednesday, except the first of the month, is a competition night
  • Competition nights are when families tackle the challenges shown in the video below
  • Families must attend an introductory session before attending a competition night
  • Each challenge is attempted on the game matt shown in the video
  • Families earn points also as shown in the video below

Team rules

  • Teams must always include one adult
  • Teams must be a family unit
  • Team size limit is 6 people
  • Teams do not need to bring any of their own resources or equipment
  • Teams do not need any prior knowledge of the subject matter
  • Teams must be willing to attend on a regular basis
